Johnny Normal

Johnny Normal is a radio presenter, event promoter/producer and musician, residing in the historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon.

As an event producer he has been behind three decades of exciting and varied live events in both the corporate and music sectors… Stunning awards presentation events, international conferences, roadshows, product launches, video and media production for organisations such as Brita, Xerox, RoSPA, Papa Johns, RSPCA, Peugeot, BMW, Amway , New York Times…as well as regional music gigs, album launches and music festivals including Electro London, Synthetic City, Digital Darkness.

As a musician Johnny has been performing his catalogue of original synthpop since 2008 at gigs and festivals around the UK, also performing with/supporting Adam Ant, Altered Images, Nash the Slash, Blancmange, Sigue Sigue Sputnik and many others. Johnny Normal released four albums including ‘There’s Nothing’, ‘Robot Rock’, ‘Robot Rock Remixed’ and also an electronic ‘Kings of the Wild Frontier’ with Marco Pirroni in 2015.

In 2018 he created The Rude Awakening and, along with Bridget Gray, released the widely acclaimed Kaleidoscope album in 2019 on the Pink Dolphin Music label with a number of EP releases and a debut music video which Johnny filmed and edited himself.

Johnny was introduced to radio around 10 years ago by Radio Happy’s Phil Marsh, and he went on to produce and present his own weekly show at the station.

In 2014 Johnny was struck down with the Swine Flu H1N1 virus and spent 6 months in 3 intensive care units and a rehab hospital fighting for his life. During this period he suffered kidney, liver and lung failure, two cardiac arrests and whilst in a coma, eventually a stroke. Johnny had a long and traumatic rehabilitation, having to learn to stand, walk, eat and talk again.

He returned to the airwaves in 2015 with Radio Warwickshire going from strength to strength presenting The Synthetic Sunday Show, interviewing Public Image, Republica, Martyn Ware, Mari Wilson, Wendy James, China Crisis and Gary Numan as well as championing modern independent electronic acts from around the world.

In May 2019 he joined Artefaktor Radio to fill the Sunday night 8-10pm slot.
